ACTING AUDITIONS
Today all of us worked on our Shakespeare monologues. Since half of the people in both groups weren’t in, Groups 1 &2 had a lesson with Gary together. In today’s lesson each person had to get up and perform their monologue. The people that got up today to perform their monologue was me, Mauricia, Paige, Bicton and Edward. All of us did well but understanding our monologue that we had to work on. For Example…….
1) Our monologues have to be learnt by heart.
2) Create something for our monologues.
3) Know what the play/character/monologue is about.
4) Create a place of sense world time for our monologues.
5 ) Also we had to pronounce our words properly- PUNCTUATION
6) Emotional Connection
These are the 6 things that all of us had to work on. VOICE is really important as you perform your monologue. When I got up and did my monologue, everything went well, I was focused and I had energy. Also I was very clear on what I was saying and everybody understood what was going on in my monologue 7 with my character ‘Mark Antony’. The only things I need to work on are……
*Play physical and emotionally* Emotional connection with my character* Create the world of my monologue
These are the only 3 things that I have to work on, but overall everything else is fine :).
Mark Antony Research
Mark Antony wasborn on April 20, 83 BC, coinciding with Lucius Cornelius Sulla's landing at Brundisium on the eve of the anniversary of the founding of Rome. Also he was the homonymous (A person with the same name as another) and presumably the eldest son of Marcus Antonius Creticus and grandson of the noted orator Marcus Antonius who had been murdered during the Marian Terror of the winter of 87–6 BC. His mother, Julia was the daughter of Lucius Caesar, upon the death of her first husband; she married Publius Cornelius Lentulus an eminent patrician. Despite exploiting his political success for financial gain, Lentulus was constantly in debt due to the extravagance of his lifestyle- he was a major figure in the second Catilinian conspiracy, as a result of that he was extrajudically killed on the orders of Cicero in 63 BC. As a youth Anthony lived a dissipate (To Waste) lifestyle and gained a reputation for heavy gambling; According to Cicero, Anthony had a homosexual relationship with Gaius Scribonius Curio, a Roman statesman and orator who was nicknamed Burbulieus for the way he used to move his body while speaking.
Also Anthony was a Roman politician and general. As a military commander and administrator, he was an important supporter and loyal friend of his mother’s cousin Julius Caesar. After the death of Caesar/his assassination, Antony formed an official political alliance with Octavian and Lepidus who are both known to historians today as the Second Triumvirate. In 33 BC the triumvirate broke up due to a disagreement between Octavian and Antony whom both erupted into civil war, which was the final war of the Roman Republic, in 31 BC. Antony was defeated by Octavian at the naval Battle of Actium, and in a brief land battle at Alexandria. He and his lover Cleopatra committed suicide shortly thereafter. His career and defeat are significant in Rome's transformation from Republic to Empire.
Today was GREAT! :D
